This is the second to show animals I watched in Corcovado national park. The strong impression I had was richness of mammals.
まずはコアリクイ♪ 泊まっていたコテージのすぐ側を歩いていたら見つけました＾＾
泊まったホテル（Casa Corcovado）はジャングルの真っただ中にあるのですが、、こんな動物が普通に歩いているなんて凄すぎます！ 因みにこのホテル、設備もサービスも非常に良かったです
Tamandua Collared Anteater. I found this next to the cottage where I stayed. The hotel I stayed （Casa Corcovado） is located in the mid of tropical rainforest. But it was surprising to see such animals in the garden. By the way, facility and service of this hotel was excellent.
さて、、あまり体が大きくないこともあるいせいか、見つけた時は木の上に登っていました。
This anteater was not so big. Maybe for that reason, this guy was on the branch of the tree, when I found it.
暫くすると木から降りて、地面をトコトコと歩き始め、、
After watching in silence, he started to climb down the trunk and walking on the ground,
食べ物(蟻)を探し始めました。とにかく可愛い！その一言に尽きます
and started to search for foods (ants). The only word I can say was 'Lovely'.
ちょっと面白かったのが、、こちらのシーン。木から降りているところですが、意外にも頭を下に向けて降りてました。この方が体を安定して降りれるのだと思いますが、、ちょっと不思議な感じでした。
When he climbed down the trunk, he put his head down. For it was somewhat unexpected. I assume this way (to set head down) stabilized the body, but it looked interesting.
ピントが今ひとつですが、、こちらはコルコバード国立公園の深部にあるシレナで撮影した個体。黒い模様がまるで服を着ているみたいですね
Below is a shot I took in Sirena where locates deeper part of the national park, though focus is not good. Black color pattern looks like this guy wear a cloth.
お次は、、、、、是非見たいと思っていたバク！
大型の哺乳類だけあって、やはり個体数は多くないようです。コスタリカで一番観察できる確率が高いのがコルコバード国立公園ですが、それでも確実に見れるものではないとか・・・
こちらは子供です。
Next mammal is Baird's tapir which I dreamed to watch!!
Since Tapir is big animal, population is not so high. Corcovado national park is said to be a place where people can spot Tapir with highest possibility in CostaRica. But it is still not so high. Below is a juvenile.
ちょっと引いてみるとこんな感じです。体が大きく、代謝を上げないためにも、日中は泥っぽい場所でまったりとしているとの事でした。
Since their body is big, they like to stay and relax at muddy place in the daytime to keep metabolism low.
こちらは成獣。やはり大きかったです。
この日は朝7時過ぎからガイドさんと二人でシレナの密林の中を歩き回ったのですが、、一向にバクは見つかりませんでした。6時間ほど歩き続けても、、全く見れず・・・
This is adult. As expected, they were so big.
In this day, I started walking in the forest with guide since 7:00am, but both of them could not find Tapir. Even after walking for 6 hours, situation was unchanged....
そして、、帰り間際、諦め半分で上陸したポイント近くの泥場に立ち寄ったところ、、成獣2頭と子供1頭を見つけたのでした！ いや～、これには感動しました＾＾ 正に「土壇場での大どんでん返し」ですね
Eventually just before taking a ship back to the hotel, we found two adults and one juvenile!! I was really impressed with this last minutes encounter.
箸休めではありませんが、、爬虫類も紹介しておきます。こちらはバシリスク。
と言っても世界で一番美しいと言われているグリーンバシリスクではありません。ここにはかなりいるようで、多数見かけました。色は地味ですが、綺麗な体型をしていますね
Before going next, I will show a reptile. This is Jesus Christ Lizard. This is similar species with Emerald Basilisk which is called mot beautiful lizard in the world.
I saw many in here. They are not colorful, but their body shape was beautiful.
さぁて、、再び哺乳類です(笑)
こちらはクモザルです。
Again,, back to mammals. ;-)
Here is Spider Monkey.
噂に聞いていた通り、尾を手足のように使っていました。
As heard before, they utilize tail as if hand or foot.
樹幹部近くにいる事が多くて撮りにくかったものの、結構な数を見かけました。
クモザルもコスタリカでは絶滅危惧種となっているようですが、ここでは普通に見かけました。
It was not very easy to take photo of them, since they liked to stay on the top of the tree. But I watched many of them. In CostaRica, they are regarded as endangered species. But, here was exception.

Correction: Above photo is not Spider Monkey, but seems Mantled Howler Monkey.
見ていて和みます♪
Just watching them made me relax.
国立公園内で出会った哺乳類はこれ位でしたが、その他の動物も色々と見かけました。
こちらはコンゴウインコ。
These are the mammals I watched in the national park. But I saw other kinds of animals in it.
Here is Scarlet Macaw.
去年、カラーラ国立公園でも見ましたが、話に聞いていた通り個体数はこちらの方が圧倒的に多かったです。 騒々しい！でも綺麗な鳥でした♪
Last year, I watched them in Carara National Park. But I heard before, population was much bigger here in Corcovado national park.
They were very noisy, but beautiful bird.
こちらはキバラカラカラ。猛禽類の一種です。
Yellow-headed Caracara. A kind of raptor.
カンムリシャッケイ。
Crested Guan
こちらはシレナで見かけたカンムリズクのペア♪ ジャングルを歩いていても歩いてもバクに出会えずテンションが下がり気味でしたが、、この出会いで一気にアドレナリンが出まくりました(笑) 文句なしに格好いいですね！
Couple of Crested Owl in Sirena. To walk in the rain forest without watching made me feel very tired. But this encounter made me completely refresh! What a beautiful bird!
今日の最後はホテルの敷地から見た夕日です。目の前に広がっているのは太平洋。ホテルへのアクセスは、、舟に乗って太平洋を沿岸沿いに移動するしかありません。隔離された場所ですが、それだけに自然を間近で実感できました。ここには是非また訪れたいです。
Today's last photo is sunset I saw from the hotel. The ocean in front of the hotel was Pacific. The only way to the hotel is to take a boat and hotel is totally isolated. But, thanks to that, I could feel the nature closely. I want to come back to here again.
